Formerly known as Gilbert Street Dental, this long-standing Adelaide CBD practice has joined Smile On Clinics as part of its next stage of growth while continuing to deliver the same trusted, patient-focused care it’s been known for across generations.
A Trusted Adelaide Practice, Now Part of Smile On Clinics
Smile On Adelaide has cared for the Adelaide community for decades, building strong relationships with patients and families that often span three generations. Many patients first attended as children and now return with families of their own, a legacy that reflects the practice’s focus on continuity, prevention and long-term oral health.
The practice continues to operate from its established Gilbert Street location and is led by Dr Penny Burbidge, with the same experienced clinical and support team patients know and trust.
Shared Values, Strong Alignment
Smile On Adelaide’s decision to join Smile On Clinics was driven by shared values.
Like Smile On Clinics, the practice is family-oriented, clinician-led, and committed to high standards of patient care. The Smile On Clinics group itself is led by a brother-and-sister team and supported by a network of highly experienced clinicians, with a strong emphasis on education, collaboration and professional development.
“This change reflects our growth as a practice and our alignment with a group committed to high-quality, patient-focused dentistry,” says Dr Penny Burbidge, Principal Dentist at Smile On Adelaide.
Same Team, Expanded Support
From 2026, the practice will operate fully under the Smile On Adelaide name. Importantly for patients, this transition does not mean a change in care.
Patients will continue to see the same dentists, clinicians, and front-of-house team, now supported by the broader Smile On Clinics network. This behind-the-scenes support provides access to shared systems, training, and professional collaboration, while allowing the practice to maintain its local identity and personalised approach.
“Our name has changed, but the people caring for our patients have not,” Dr Burbidge explains. “Joining Smile On Clinics allows us to strengthen what we already do well, while continuing to care for our community in the way they expect.”
Expanding Services for the Adelaide Community
As part of the Smile On Clinics family, Smile On Adelaide is also expanding its range of services to better support patient needs.
In addition to comprehensive general dentistry, the practice now offers advanced cosmetic and restorative treatments, including:
- Teeth On Implants® – a full-arch dental implant solution for suitable patients seeking a fixed alternative to dentures or multiple failing teeth
- Smile On Straighter® – a dentist-supervised clear aligner system designed to gradually improve tooth alignment
